Poll: Do you think Budget 2018 should cut USC or increase income tax bands?

A political row is heating up over what should be done about the USC.

A POLITICAL ROW is heating up between Ireland’s two leading parties over what is to be done with the Universal Social Charge.

Fine Gael has flagged that come Budget 2018 it wants to increase the entry point for the higher rate of the payable income tax.

However, Fianna Fáil has said that it wants to see the amount of USC being paid reduced, rather than the bands being altered.

What’s more, the party is adamant that the confidence and supply agreement with Fine Gael agrees to steadily reduce the USC for low and middle-income earners.

But what do you think?

Today we’re asking, Do you think Budget 2018 should cut USC or increase income tax bands?

Poll Results:

It should cut the amount of USC being paid (7624)
It should increase the income tax bands for a higher rate (4808)
It should make no changes to the USC (876)
Don't know/care (486)
